Back then, the father is always the breadwinner of the family while the mother stays at home and takes care of the children. But now, dramatic changes brought by urbanization and technological advances improved the roles of women in society. A modern Filipina woman now works and supports her family just like Alyanna Arevalo-Dalisay.
As we have seen in the new life of our hero in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Cardo Dalisay is now a jeepney driver while his wife Alyanna Arevalo retained her original job as a broadcast-journalist. What’s more is that Cardo is very supportive of his wife’s passion although he constantly worries about her due to the dangers that follow her job.
According to a survey by Philippine Commission on Women, almost 50% of women participated in the Labor Force Participation in 2013. That’s more than Middle East and North Africa that reported a 26% women participation in the workforce. Philippines also ranked at the top spot in Asia and 7th place in the world in The World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Global Gender Gap Report 2016.
Once again FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano perfectly captured what happens in the real life of normal Filipinos. Naturally, a lot of Filipinos were delightfully surprised with this direction of the story because they were used to seeing women traditionally portrayed on media. Furthermore, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano also tackles other relevant and timely issues in the Philippines.
Yan po ang role ng Ang Probinsyano, the only series tackling relevant and recent issues #FPJAPKabanata

And although we’re glad to see Cardo have a normal job, will he be back again in the force to fight off the new threats?
