JAY is a life documentary of a homosexual teacher from Pampanga named Jay Mercado who has been violently murdered in his own home. Jay Santiago, a television producer and a homosexual himself, takes advantage of Mercado’s impoverished family to create a high-rated documentary. Through the documentary, the criminal is found and justice is served. Coco Martin played the role of Edward Navarro.

This film was the first feature film in competition to be shown in the 2008 Venice International Film Festival’s Orrizonti (New Horizons). It was the unanimous choice for the Best Film Award in the Fill-Length Category of the 2008 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival and had given Coco Martin Best Supporting Actor awards from Gawad Pasado (2008), Golden Screen Awards (2009) and Gawad Urian (2009).
