The longest running drama anthology in Asia, Maalaala Mo Kaya, paid tribute to the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos in the first installment of the two-part special last Saturday, April 25, 2015. It was titled “Plano” and was topbilled by award-winning actors, Coco Martin and Angel Locsin, who were both a factor in relaying an emotionally-stirring narrative with a striking balance of romance, suspense, and dramatic elements. Aside from the aforesaid elements which were well-threaded in Erana’s domestic life and SAF trainings & operations, the romance that blossomed between Coco Martin and Angel Locsin’s characters became the story that further solicited deep emotions.
It was in the sequences of Coco Martin, as Senior Police Inspector Garry Erana, and Angel Locsin, as Atty. Suzette Tucay, which also earned positive reactions from the viewers and netizens. Their laudable portrayals of the characters and their undeniable chemistry created a buzz. Since a few minutes after MMK’s first few bodies, the hashtag ‘#MMKFallen44‘ already locally trended in Twitter.
